Key Features The Telinga Modular is a brand new concept that allows you to record in mono or stereo using your own microphones. The Telinga Modular MKH Series Parabolic Microphone includes the extremely popular Sennheiser MKH8020 omnidirectional mono microphone. • Sennheiser MKH8020 can be used in extreme weather conditions • Dual purpose mic - Sennheiser MKH8020 can be used in the dish (for extreme directionality) or out of the dish (to record ambient sounds) • Requires external phantom power supply if recorder does not have built-in phantom power • Includes large 22" clear parabolic dish for superior pickup (the larger the dish, the greater the amplification) • Clear dish - great for catching birds in flight! • Dish is collapsible to a diameter of 6" • Tripod mountable • Comes with pistol grip handle, Rycote Telinga OEM basket, windjammer and 2 foam cartridges • Mono Foam Cartridge holds omni or cardioid pencil style mic not exceeding 22mm in diameter • Stereo Foam Cartridge holds PZM stereo mics not exceeding 25mm in diameter (i.e., 2 small omni mics, electret capsules or sensors) • Weighs approximately 2 lbs. • Microphone cable, tripod, windcoat, and bag sold separately Please Note: The stereo foam is based on the same Telinga tradition of having a plate separating the two sides (2 channels) inside the dish for a stereo background while the focus of the dish will affect them equally. | I must first state that I am a complete beginner with respect to recording bird songs, but becoming a recordist has been immeasurably aided by dealing with Stith Recording. The kit is incredible, the fidelity of the recording and the sensitivity of the parabolic microphone were something that astounded me. The kit is very easy to put together and transport. On Stith Recording's website, there are directions from the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology on the proper setup of the Mix Pre-3 II for taping bird songs and others from Nature. It is a breeze to follow. The folks at Stith Recording have thought of everything and will ensure your journey into recording will be painless. The customer service at Stith Recording is customer-driven and friendly: Kathie Bennett is a special delight. I researched extensively prior to settling on this package and this company and have not had any cause for regret or buyer's remorse. Prior to purchasing this package, I used my iPhone to record bird songs for several years. This is a huge step up and I highly recommend it. | |
